Child & Family Specialist

Supervisor: Children’s Program Director
Hours: Full Time, Monday – Thursday: 12pm – 8pm and Friday: 10am – 6pm

Responsibilities

Direct Service Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordination and facilitation of onsite After School Program daily with school age children
  • Develop and implement age appropriate activities and projects for all ages of children in care
  • Ensure upkeep of all children’s department spaces and assist with seasonal decorations and maintenance of bulletin boards
  • Plan and facilitate special events/activities/parties for children (Back to School parties, holiday special activities/events)
  • Coordinate provision of other services with case management staff, children’s department staff, clinical staff and other service providers
  • Cooperate and work as a team member with children’s department staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children in the program
  • Locate resources for families-activities at home and off site, seasonal community activities, and family events
  • Create signs/notifications/bulletins for clients
  • Plan and facilitate evening group activities
  • Plan and facilitate Camp G activities as needed
  • Carry out other necessary duties as needed in the Children’s Department as needed (needs lists, planning birthday parties, etc.)

Administrative

  • Make recommendations on improving and strengthening the children’s program to better meet the needs of the clients
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Child and Adolescent Program
  • Attend training as necessary to maintain accurate and adequate knowledge in the field of childcare and domestic violence
  • Attend regular supervision with immediate supervisor
  • Develop knowledgeable overview of agency’s operation and various programs and how they work together
  • Complete incident reports as needed in a timely manner

Fundamental Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required

  • At least 2 years related experience preferred to include work with children. Some knowledge of domestic violence/trauma and children is preferred.
  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Social Work, Child Development, Education, etc.)preferred
  • Demonstrates experience with and sensitivity to varying cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds, values, and attitudes
  • Acceptance of agency philosophies regarding domestic violence, internal conflict resolutions, and how decisions are made
  • Ability to drive a commercial vehicle and lift some heavy objects
  • CPR certification preferred
